Aaron Carter is denying that he tried to flip his rescue dog for a profit.
Carter, who recently broke up with girlfriend Lina Valentina, posted an Instagram video over the weekend in which he was heard saying the English bulldog he recently rescued was for sale for a few thousand dollars.
“This is my new buddy. So by the way, if I can’t keep him, I am going to be listing him,” Carter, 31, said in the video about the pooch, named Mighty. “He’s 10 months old, and he’s running for $3,500. So if anybody wants to give my English bulldog (a home), I rescue him and I find him homes.”
The animal shelter from which Carter adopted his dog, Lancaster Animal Care Center, first praised Carter for adopting the bulldog but eventually changed the caption to reflect that it’s looking into the claims that Carter planned to make money off of his rescue.
“🚨🚨🚨UPDATE – We are working on this situation. Thanks to all for your concern.🚨🚨🚨” the shelter wrote.
Carter denied the allegations on Twitter Sunday.
“I think it’s apalling [sic] that I actually even have to explain myself I’ve rescued many dogs & found many dogs homes,” he tweeted. “What I said in my Instagram live video was a joke. Find one dog that I adopted and sold for money, be my guest. WONT HAPPEN. I’m a good person and i deserve respect.”
He also claimed to earn $3 million per year and didn’t need the money from selling his dog.
“And with all due respect I own a home I make over $3 million a year I don’t need to sell a dog for money so have some respect and don’t try to slander my name because I will defend myself and I will take legal action,” he wrote. “DONT TRY IT. So back the f–k off… gn.”
Carter’s rep had no comment.
